The Famuan: Tallahassee Delegates Sign Sister-City Agreement with China

Tallahassee Mayor John Marks, along with area state, local and university officials, spent last week in Rugao, China signing a Sister City agreement with Secretary Huijuan Chen, the highest-ranking official in the city.

Last Wednesday, Marks joined Chen as well as Daojian Wu, the vice mayor of Rugao, to sign a proclamation making the Sister City status official between Rugao and Tallahassee.

Tallahassee Democrat: China trip deemed success

Members of a recent trade mission to China say they made important progress toward strengthening business and academic ties with the economic giant.

The nine-member delegation, which departed Tallahassee Oct. 25 and returned six days later, included Tallahassee Mayor John Marks, his chief of staff Rick Minor, local business people and officials from Florida State University and Florida A&M University. Read more »

Tallahassee, Fla.- A recent trade mission to Rugao, China, led by Mayor John Marks, the Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County and representatives of Tallahassee’s business community, Florida State University and Florida A&M University, yielded a host of education and economic development opportunities for Tallahassee and a formal Sister City relationship between the cities. In a presentation at the Tallahassee City Commission meeting today, delegation members outlined significant progress in promoting the Tallahassee’s businesses and universities to its newest Sister City.
